The Future
The CWL program not only addresses community needs, but national
government goals as well. New job opportunities are created through
appropriate education and training without burdening the national
budget. A new generation of trainers in the field of Health Care
will increase the future number of trainees and reduce the overall
cost of training. The tuition fees will be offered to the trainees
as a payable loan to be paid over a period of time after graduation.
Some stipulated scholarships are available through Healt Institutions.
Other scholarships are available for support of out of town trainees.
The Ministry of Health have agreed (Aug.98) to extend the services
of Asalam Hospital to the community through the Home Health Care
Providers which means granting the HHCPs full insurance and employment
benefits as hospital employees.
In view of the experience of the CWL project, the three parteners
(CEOSS, CGS, and S.H.) have decided to continue the training program.
CEOSS provided a new training site for the project that is central
and more accessible to trainees, and allows more freedom in the
training times, as well as the design of the training courses
to suite the training purposes through private funds from friends
of the project.
Note - Recent initiatives:
1. CWL in a twinning program with Ma'an (a Sudanese
Women's Group) trained 39 female Sudanese refugees in Egypt to
become HHCPs whom are to serve the Sudanese community in Egypt
and Sudan. Four trainers were also trained of planting a sustainable
structure similar to that of CWL within Ma'an.
2. CWL enlarged its circle of affiliates by training
HHCPs for Nahr Al Hayat Hospital. The hospital has now established
its own referral service unit.
3. CWL is currently providing caregivers service
on the children's ward of the National Cancer Institute in Cairo.
Home Health Care will ultimately become an integral
of the national healtth care system reducing the per capit cost
of long term health care services.
